Who this workshop is for
This workshop is for the small business owner or marketer who's been told repeatedly that they need to "tell their story" on social media, and is no closer to knowing what that actually means. You've tried the templates. You've followed the gurus. Your posts look fine. They just don't sell anything, and they don't sound like your business in any meaningful way.
You don't need another lecture about "finding your why." You need to leave the room with a brand voice you can actually use on Monday morning.
What we'll cover
- Why most "tell your story" advice is generic, hollow, and produces beige content that could belong to any business
- What brand narrative actually is, and the difference between a brand voice that earns attention and one that exhausts the reader
- The three structural ingredients of a strong brand narrative, and how to find them in your business specifically (not in the abstract)
- How to translate that narrative into individual social posts that feel different from your competitors' without making you sound like a different person
- Live worked examples: the trainer will draft a piece of brand narrative for one or two attendees in the room
- A short writing exercise. By the end of the session, you'll have the start of your own brand narrative on paper
- The trainer's working playbook for keeping the narrative current as your business evolves
What you'll walk away with
- A clear, structured definition of your brand's narrative
- Three or four ready-to-post examples drawn from the session
- A repeatable approach for generating new posts that stay on-narrative
- Confidence that you're not just guessing
- Course notes you'll actually refer back to
- A certificate of completion
About the trainer
Nick is the founder of CoMagnify. He's been creating content for brands since before social media took off. He spearheaded the Becks Offbeat campaign in 2008, and in the 18 years since has worked closely with international brands including Virgin, SharkNinja and Overboard. He's also a working photographer with IPA, TIFA and BPA awards to his name, and has guided small businesses to significant growth alongside the brand work. His background spans broadcast and documentary production at the BBC, National Geographic and Discovery, a range of disciplines that informs how he thinks about narrative, audience and storytelling.
Brand narrative is the discipline he's spent the longest in. Most of what he teaches in this workshop comes directly from working on real campaigns where the narrative had to land precisely or the work failed.
Where and when
This workshop runs in person at our four West of England venues (Bristol, Cheltenham, Swindon and Thornbury) and as a live online session via Zoom. Pick the format and date that suits you when you book.
Common questions
Is this workshop right for me if I've never written a brand narrative before?
Yes, but it's pitched at the post-novice level. We assume you've posted on social, you understand the basics of voice and tone, and you're frustrated that what you've been doing isn't working. If you've literally never written social copy before, the half-day Social Media Marketing Complete might suit you better as a starting point.
Can you guarantee my posts will perform better afterwards?
No, and we'd be cautious of anyone who does. What we can guarantee is that you'll leave with a sharper, more distinctive narrative than you arrived with, which is the foundation any real performance improvement is built on.
Will the workshop be recorded?
No, and there's a deliberate reason. Brand narrative work is partly conceptual and partly hands-on, and recordings flatten the difference. Every CoMagnify workshop is taught live, in the room, current as of the day it runs. We don't sell recordings of our workshops.
I'd prefer training tailored to my business specifically. Can you do that?
Yes, see our Bespoke Training page.
