This workshop runs in person at Bristol, Cheltenham, Swindon and Thornbury. Don't see the venue or date you want? Drop us a message and we'll let you know what's next.

Is this for you?

This workshop is for small business owners and marketers who know SEO matters, know they should be doing it, but have never been properly taught what it actually is. You've heard the acronyms (SEO, GEO, AEO, AIO) and they've started showing up in client conversations or LinkedIn posts. You don't want to fake your way through another meeting. You want a calm, structured introduction that takes you from "I've heard of this" to "I understand it and I know what to do next", without three months of YouTube tutorials.

Half-day workshops run in person only at our four West of England venues. Tea and coffee provided. Capped at small groups so the trainer can work with everyone in the room.

What we'll cover

Four hours, structured to take you from the fundamentals through to a practical plan for your own site:

  • How search has changed in the last 18 months, and why one acronym (SEO) became a small alphabet (GEO, AEO, AIO, LLMO)
  • The simple, durable principles underneath all of them: the things that have always made content findable and still do
  • How Google currently decides what to rank: what it rewards, what it ignores, what it punishes
  • How AI search engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude) decide what to cite, and what your site needs in place for them to pick you
  • Schema markup, structured data, and the technical foundations explained in plain English
  • The handful of on-page changes most likely to move the needle for a small business
  • A working session: applying everything we've covered to your own website, with the trainer in the room

What you'll walk away with

By the end of the four hours, you'll have:

  • A clear, working understanding of how search actually works in 2026, across Google, AI, and voice
  • A prioritised list of changes to make to your own website, drafted in the room with the trainer's input
  • A simple checklist for evaluating any future SEO advice you read or are sold
  • Course notes you'll actually refer back to
  • A certificate of completion

About the trainer

Nick is the founder of CoMagnify. He's been creating content for brands since before social media took off. He spearheaded the Becks Offbeat campaign in 2008, and in the 18 years since has worked closely with international brands including Virgin, SharkNinja and Overboard. He's also a working photographer with IPA, TIFA and BPA awards to his name, and has guided small businesses to significant growth alongside the brand work. His background spans broadcast and documentary production at the BBC, National Geographic and Discovery, a range of disciplines that informs how he thinks about narrative, audience and storytelling.

Nick has been advising businesses on SEO since back in the days of keyword-stuffing (remember that?). He's watched as the search engines have become more and more complex. He thinks every algorithm update has been overwhelmingly positive for small businesses, and he'll explain why.

Common questions

I've already done some SEO myself. Is this too basic for me?

Possibly. This workshop assumes you're starting from scratch or close to it. If you already know what schema markup is and have edited a meta description, our 90-minute SEO/AEO/GEO Update workshop is a better fit. It's pitched at people who already understand the basics and want a current update.

Is this workshop available online?

No. Half-day workshops are in-person only. Four hours via livestream is genuinely difficult to deliver and harder to sit through. The 90-minute workshops in our catalogue are available both in person and live online.

Will we actually look at my website?

Yes. The final session of the workshop is hands-on, and you'll work directly on your own site with the trainer's input. Bring a laptop if you'd like to make changes in the room. If you'd prefer to take notes and apply changes later, that's fine too.

Can I bring a colleague?

Each booking is for one place. If you'd like to bring a colleague, book a second place. It's a per-attendee cap on group size, not a per-business one.

What kit do I need to bring?

Just yourself and a notebook is plenty. If you'd like to work on your own site during the practical session, bring a laptop too. It's optional.

Will this be recorded?

No, and there's a deliberate reason. Search changes faster than almost any topic in marketing. Google updates monthly, AI search engines update weekly, and best practice in 2026 looks meaningfully different from best practice in 2024. Every CoMagnify workshop is current as of the day it runs, and we spend time covering not just what works now but what we expect to change in the coming weeks. You can't get that from a recording.

I'd prefer training tailored to my business specifically. Can you do that?

Yes, see our Bespoke Training page.

Cancellation policy

Plans change. We get it. Cancel up to 7 days before the workshop for a full refund. Within 7 days, we'll happily transfer your booking to a future date at no extra cost. Just email info@comagnify.com.

If we have to cancel a workshop ourselves (rare, but possible), we'll refund you in full and give you first option on the next available date.
